"OUT OF SIGHT...OUT OF MURDER"
A Mystery Comedy by Fred Carmichael.

Peter Knight, a mystery writer, is grinding out a murder story in a drafty old mansion where another author was murdered years before. Minna, the sensible housekeeper, welcomes Peter to the house and keeps an eye on him. Peter’s career is on the slide and to save it, he must come up with something special. But what happens next is more incredible than anything he could have imagined. In a fierce storm, a lightning strike effects a cosmic snafu and his book characters come to life to create the perfect murder plot for him. Peter is in a state of sustained bewilderment as the fictional characters run circles round him as he tries to make sense of their shenanigans.

There's the lovely ingénue (Kay), the trusty butler (Cogburn), a feisty character woman (Fiona), a dauntless hero (Dick), a fascinating "other woman (Lydia)," the always pregnant serving girl (Addie), and the wily lawyer (Jordan) waiting for midnight to read the will. Peter loses control of his characters and there is a murder; the intended victim is Peter. Other murders follow and the culprit is among the characters who, having also worked for other authors in the past, know a great deal about the subject.

Can Peter find the killer before the killer gets his author? Is the romance with the ingénue leading anywhere? Where is the fortune mentioned in the will? All is solved ingeniously with romance, suspense and cosmic wit.
