(Thurs Sep 30th, Fri Oct 1st and Sat Oct 2nd 2010)
at Sherfield Village Hall,
Verdict
The play tells the story of Karl Hendryk, a brilliant professor who, with his wife and her cousin, have fled persecution in their country. The professor is contentedly ensconced in a British university, where he is respected by students and faculty alike. His wife, Anya, an invalid suffering from a progressively debilitating disease, bitterly regrets having been forced to leave her home and her friends and is unhappy with all aspects of her life in England. Her cousin and close friend, Lisa Koletzky, has moved with them to care for Anya and to manage the professor's home. Karl and Lisa have suppressed feelings for each other, and the situation is further disturbed when a young rich student, Helen Rollander, takes on private lessons with the professor.
Director: Maria Hadnett

Reviews from the audience:
"We just got an email from the friends we went with on Saturday. They said "We did enjoy last Saturday. We both thought it was one of their best productions."

"I really enjoyed the production on Friday night and so did the rest of the guests I brought along with me.  It was a lovely evening."

"Well done for a 'sell out' show! You all kept your characters very well indeed and the accents!! The acting was, as ever, of a high standard."

"We just want to say Thankyou for a great evening on Friday! The Players were superb and perfectly cast and the meal was delicious - just right. Please can you pass on our congratulations to all concerned - looking forward to the next one already!"

"We thouroughly enjoyed the play."

"It was more serious than some of the others, but well done!"

"We were in admiration of the effort which must have gone into learning all those lines for the main characters especially. Plus there were a coiuple of twists in the plot which we didn't foresee which is always good."
